CCA "Carpenter Center Addition"

A project done in Spring of 2009 with Ron Assa. The constraints were to design the building adjacent to the Carpenter Center for Arts in Harvard. The basic concept was to merge transitional space with gallery space. Stairs separate and ramps connect, but this interior topography acts as both a means of transition and gallery place.

The envelope of the building was conceived as a giant partitions that are split apart. Entrances are cracks revealing the interior of the building. In this way, the building is porous in ways the carpenter is not.
